Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. It is a privilege to care for you, and preserving our relationship and the integrity of your care is very important.

The best medical care is grounded in empathy, continuity, and accessibility. Every visit should provide the opportunity to listen carefully, answer your questions thoroughly, and tailor evidence-based advice to your unique needs.

To preserve this standard of care, I will no longer be in-network with Oxford, United, and The Empire Plan beginning November 4, 2026. Office visits will transition to a fee-for-service model, protecting the time, attention, and personalized care that are essential to your health. I very much hope you will choose to continue this relationship with me.

Enclosed are answers to common questions you may have about this change. Insurance coverage for lab work, imaging, and prescriptions will remain the same as before. Office visits may qualify for out-of-network reimbursement depending on your plan, and we will help make this process as easy as possible.

What is happening on November 4, 2026?

Beginning November 4, 2026, office services provided by Dr. Russell Weg for patients with Oxford, United, and The Empire Plan will transition to a fee-for-service model. This means payment for Dr. Weg’s professional services will be due at the time of your visit rather than billed directly to your insurance company.

Why is this change being made?

Good medical care requires accessibility, time, continuity and a genuine understanding of your needs. The traditional insurance system no longer supports these values. 

The fee-for-service model allows the physician-patient relationship to remain at the center of your care, with the thoroughness and personalized attention that are essential to your health.

Is this a Concierge Model?

No. Unlike a concierge or subscription practice, there are no mandatory retainer fees, annual memberships, or monthly dues. The fee-for-service model is intended to be far more accessible and flexible - you simply pay for the professional medical services you receive while maintaining the level of care you value.

How much will my visits cost?

Costs vary depending on the type and complexity of the services provided and are formulated to prioritize accessibility and transparency. Our office will be happy to provide the fee for your visit or procedure before your appointment, so you know what to expect in advance. 

Will my insurance reimburse me for office visits?

Lab work, prescriptions and imaging will continue to be covered in accordance with your insurance policy, as they always have. 

Only Dr. Weg’s professional services are considered out-of-network. This allows the time and attention essential to providing thoughtful, personalized medical care. Many plans offer out-of-network benefits that may reimburse you for a portion of the office visit with Dr. Weg. 

Our office will take care of the paperwork by sending an itemized statement (a superbill), complete with all necessary clinical and coding information, to your insurance so they can provide eligible reimbursement directly to you.

What about lab work, imaging, prescriptions, and procedures?

Your insurance coverage for these services does not change:

  • Labs, Imaging, and Prescriptions: Bloodwork, diagnostic imaging, and medications will continue to be processed directly  through your insurance as they are today.

  • Colonoscopy and Endoscopy: Dr. Weg’s professional fee will be paid directly to the practice. Other associated services—such as anesthesia and pathology—remain in-network and covered in accordance with your insurance policy.

What if I have an appointment scheduled before November 4, 2026?

Services provided before November 4, 2026, will be processed by your insurance. The fee-for-service model applies only to professional services provided on or after November 4, 2026.

What do I need to do to continue my care?

Nothing. You may continue scheduling appointments with Dr. Weg as you normally would. If you have questions about an upcoming visit or procedure, our office will be happy to provide any details you need in advance.

What if I choose not to continue with Dr. Weg?

We are deeply grateful for the privilege of caring for you. If you decide that this model is not right for you, please contact our office. We will provide a copy of your medical records to you or your new provider upon request and assist in making the transition of your care as smooth as possible. Please remember that these changes do not take effect until November 4, 2026.
